The trim pieces are available in a large portion of the factory painted colors. We did prepainted and unlike what other commenters have said, I would challenge someone to tell the difference between the caulk color and the board, much less the paint touch ups. Yes it would be more expensive for prepainted siding. It's a finished product, and have to be more careful with the install. There is paint touchup and color-matched caulking.
